Canon Personality:
Jill is, above all else, loyal and devoted. She cares for those she loves deeply and openly. In the beginning of the game, she wishes upon the moon for nothing more than Clive's safe return. It's clear that even if she was brought to Rosaria initially as a hostage, she views Clive and Joshua as extremely dear friends.
Her dedication and care isn't just limited to people she knows personally, however. When she was captured, the Patriarch threatened to kill the other people of Rosaria they captured with her if she didn't use her power as a Dominant to fight. Jill hated to commit such atrocities, but with her people's lives on the line, she felt like she had little choice.
That being said, while Jill generally dislikes violence, she recognizes that sometimes it's necessary. She knew that the Patriarch was hurting people and would continue to hurt people, so she felt the only way to prevent him from hurting anyone else was to see him dead. That she also desired revenge against him is beyond the point, she will not hesitate to kill if she feels that it is necessary.
But that doesn't stop Jill from feeling regret at everything she's done. The people of the Iron Isles viewed her as a monster, and she didn't disagree. The key difference was why.
The people who captured her saw her as a monster due to her nature as a dominant. She viewed herself as a monster because, while primed and fighting as Shiva, she killed many people. Jill states there were many times that she wandered if she should be alive at all, but decided that she had the most to gain by moving forward and using her power to help others.
And when moving forward, Jill is incredibly stubborn. In universe, it's stated that channeling the Dominant powers causes one to slowly die. Jill takes this on readily and does what she needs to; she doesn't hesitate to prime into Shiva when fighting the patriarch, and is willing to help pick up the slack for Clive when he has trouble channeling Ifrit.
Under all of this, Jill is a kind girl with a dry sense of humor. In a happier life she's someone who would be happy to eat pie while spending the days idly with her friends. Perhaps, that's something she'd be able to find in Kaisou.

AU History: Jill was born Judith von Musel Klossowski de Rolo, the younger sister of Percy de Rolo. She lived an idyllic childhood. She was the next child after Percy in age. She acted as a kind older sister to her siblings younger than her, and an understanding ear to those older than her. She was particularly close to Percy.
On the day that TBO raided their home, she was there. Jill rushed upstairs when she realized what was going on, and worked to help her younger siblings escape the house. Seeing her parents killed in front of her caused her past life memories to come flooding back to her, and her powers to awaken. At this point, she semi-primed with Shiva, and tried to fight off TBO to protect her remaining family. Unfortunately, she was overpowered, and she saw her older siblings killed in front of her.
The Black Order operatives saw potential in Jill and brought her back to base. She initially didn't want to help the Black Order, especially after they killed her family. Unfortunately, the Black Order threatened to hunt down her younger siblings and Percival if she didn't comply.
Against her will, Jill worked for the Order. While she was there, she worked with many operatives younger than her, and took them under her wing as their adoptive "older sister." When TBO found this out, they used it against her, as well. The Black Order's goal was to see her fully primed, so they could have a god they could use at their will.
While all this was going on, Jill's will was fading. She hated hurting people, and she hated what the Black Order was making her do. Using her power made her feel physically ill without the complication of committing crimes against her will.
One day, things took a particularly bad turn. An innocent that Jill was trying to protect was killed during a mission, and this caused her to have a mental breakdown. This lead her to prime completely, but she lost herself in the process. In the ensuing chaos, several innocent people lost their lives. Once Jill came to her senses, she realized what it was she'd done.
She returned to the Black Order HQ a shell of her former self. She did nothing but sit for several days. Eventually, the higher ups realized that something was wrong, and they weighed their options.
The one time they saw Jill use her power proper, she couldn't control it. But, if they were to kill her, they'd lose their chance at having a god on their side. They opted to take the middle ground: Jill was sealed within Meropide, intended to be awoken when they found a way to control her (and thus her power) more readily.

The trauma from TBO initially was less than Jill got in the Iron Isles, but it doesn't matter because we spedran that when she primed.
